Tori Thrun

Co-Founder

"Hello, my name is Tori. I was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan and am happy to call this city my home. I graduated from GVSU with a degree in Recreational Therapy. I am a certified Recreational Therapist, ABA Therapist, and Health Coach. My passion is working with the special needs population and their families, providing the tips and tools necessary to live the best quality of life. Nikki and I worked together at Lincoln School. We built such a strong friendship and quickly realized we have the same goals in our personal and professional lives. So, here we are building a business based on our passion: individuals with special needs and their family and friends.

I have an older brother, Travus, and younger brother Theo. I have a berenedoodle named Shanny and a chocolate lab named Cheli. I did an internship in Panama City Beach, FL doing dolphin assisted therapy with individuals with special needs and their families. I enjoy traveling, especially to tropical places and spending time in Northern Michigan. I look forward to meeting all of you!"

Nikki Hassevoort

"Hi, my name is Nikki and I am one of the co-owners of Embrace Your Ability. I am excited to say I am officially a Michigander! I grew up in the southwest suburbs of Chicago and now am a resident of Holland. I attended GVSU for my Bachelor of Arts in Comprehensive Science and Arts for Teaching. In 2018 I decided to get my master's of Special Education, which I earned in 2021. During this time, I also received my endorsement in Cognitive Impairments. I addition, I am a certified ABA therapist, and am trained in Crisis Prevention. I have worked with the special needs population for roughly 8 years and it is my true passion. I worked for Kent ISD at Lincoln School with the population of children with autism, ages 16-26. I also have experience with kids ages 1-14 with autism!

I just got married to my amazing and supportive husband in Setember 2021. I have a pit/lab mix named Cooper and I love watching movies. On Sundays, we enjoy our family dinners and attending church. We also enjoy traveling to tropical places when we can. Helping others is my passion and I look forward to helping your family too!"
